Sheila Keller, Field and Product Marketing Manager

What? I Didn’t Know Applied Innovation Did That.

I’ve spent nearly 20 years in the technology industry, starting my career in sales and moving into Field and Product Marketing. I’ve been lucky enough to have a front-row seat to how much our industry, and our customers’ needs, have changed.

And yet, there’s one comment I still hear from customers that always makes me smile:

“What? I didn’t know Applied Innovation did that.”

If you know Applied Innovation, there’s a good chance you know us for printers and copiers. And you wouldn’t be wrong.

But that’s only part of the story.

The conversation has changed

When I started in this industry, customer conversations often started with the equipment.

  • How many devices do you have?
  • What are you printing?
  • How much are you spending?

Those questions still matter. But after years of sitting across the table from customers, working alongside sales teams, and helping bring new solutions to market, I’ve learned something:

The most interesting conversation usually starts AFTER the printer conversation.

  • What’s taking too much time?
  • What are you worried about from a security or compliance standpoint?
  • What process makes everyone groan when someone mentions it?

Those questions get to the real business problems. And Applied can help solve a whole lot more of them than many people realize.

Wait. Applied does all of that TOO?

And, of course, printers, copiers, and Managed Print Services are still an important part of what we do.

This series is going to introduce you to products and services you may not know Applied offers—and, more importantly, the problems they can help solve.

Because after nearly two decades, I’ve learned that customers rarely walk into a conversation thinking, “I need Product X.”

They have a problem.

  • “My IT team doesn’t have time for this.”
  • “We’re entering the same information into three different systems.”
  • “Our people can never find the documents they need.”

That’s where the right product or service can make a difference.

A print problem can become an IT problem. An inefficient process can become a staffing problem. A room full of paper can create security, compliance, storage, and productivity problems.

So, yes, we’ll show you what Applied does. But more importantly, we’ll show you why it might matter to you.

And we’ve seen what happens when those pieces come together. One Applied customer combined Managed Print Services and Document Workflow Solutions to simplify its printing and document processes across multiple locations. The result? Lower costs, greater employee productivity, and more time for its IT team to focus on strategic priorities.

Sometimes solving one problem opens the door to solving a few others along the way.

So, what else didn’t you know we did?

Behind your next IT headache, manual process, security concern, or “there has to be a better way to do this” moment, there might be an Applied solution you never knew existed.

Over the next few posts, we’re pulling back the curtain on some of the capabilities that tend to get the biggest:

“Wait…Applied does THAT?”

Some might surprise you. One might solve a problem sitting on your desk right now.

Stick with us. You already know what Applied does. Now let’s show you what you didn’t know we could do.

And if you’ve got a technology headache, security concern, or process that makes your team say, “There has to be a better way,” let’s talk. There just might be an Applied solution for that.
